Description

This fine pair of small 1930s marble-topped wall-mounted demi-lune tables are both highly decorative and practical. Perfect for today's interiors. The original marble for their tops has been particularly well chosen for its visual appeal, and to complement the mahogany used to construct their elegant ormolu-decorated bases. They have both been sensitively restored. We also have improved upon the original way in which these tables were designed to be hung. A template will accompany them, so they can be fixed to the wall with ease.

Dealers Notes

Whenever possible Culvertons undertake the carriage of items within London and the home counties. Professional, competitive and trusted couriers and shipping companies are engaged for deliveries for the remainder of our customers. Smaller items, when instructed, will be carefully parcelled and securely sent by the carrier.

We strive to accurately describe and illustrate our stock on the 'Selling Antiques' website. However, we understand that it is not always possible to judge from photographs how an item will look in the home or garden. For this reason, if notified within seven days from the date of delivery we offer a full refund (less any agreed carriage costs) once the item has been returned in the same condition as it left our premises.

FAQs

Wall-mounted consoles gained prominence in French interior design during the 17th and 18th centuries, often used in formal reception rooms to display decorative objects while saving floor space.

Traditional construction typically involves hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, combined with stone surfaces like marble and embellished with cast brass or bronze mounts.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the joinery, the natural ageing of the wood and metal components, the hand-carved details, and the characteristics of the marble top.

These pieces function effectively as display ledges in hallways or living spaces, paired with a complementary wall mirror or artwork positioned above them.

Maintenance involves dusting with a soft, dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners on the timber and marble, and occasionally sealing the stone surface to prevent staining.
