Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Welsh dresser with a rack is a traditional storage unit featuring a lower sideboard with drawers or cupboards and an upper open shelf unit designed for displaying plates and ceramics. Popularised in rural homes across Britain, these pieces combine practical kitchen storage with decorative display functionality.

Early 20th-century dressers were predominantly constructed from solid woods such as oak, pine, or mahogany, often featuring hand-cut dovetail drawer joints and solid back panels. Hardware typically consisted of cast brass drop handles or wooden knobs, with mortise and tenon joinery forming the frame.

Authentic pieces from this period exhibit age-appropriate wear to the timber, natural oxidisation around brass fittings, and historical drawer construction like hand-cut joinery. Inspecting the underside of drawers and rear panelling often reveals tool marks or original sawmill marks consistent with early manufacturing methods.

An antique dresser can serve as a focal point in a dining room, kitchen, or living area when styled with modern ceramics, glassware, or potted plants on the open shelves. Leaving sections of the shelving uncluttered helps bridge the gap between historical woodwork and minimalist modern interiors.

Preserve dark oak by applying a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year to maintain moisture and patina, buffing along the direction of the wood grain. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage, warping, or fading of the finish.
