Grand Scale English 19th Century Country House Pine Kitchen Dresser

This magnificent English 19th Century (circa 1840) Pine Dresser has monumental well balanced proportions and would originally have been part of a large country house. It is becoming rare to find dressers of these proportions. The whole item is well constructed and has wide backboards which are an attractive feature when seen from the front of this striking country house item. This noteworthy dresser is perfect for use as free standing piece in the kitchen or breakfast room as additional storage or as a welcome addition with its country house aesthetic in any room.

This delightful piece has a bleached and finely sanded raw unfinished pine appearance and retains its original key features. The breakfront top section has a moulded cornice to the top and stands on the base section with a lovely elongated bracket shape. The upper section has a full length open area above the base and above this are 3 open fixed shelves with a front trim of reeded flute to the top and lower edges framed by a pair of pair of cupboards with fixed shelving; each of the cupboards has a lock and key and original turned bun knob. All the fixed shelves to the top section have stops to act as display plate racks. The original top to the base section has a softly shaped lip and sits above 2 end cupboards with a drawer above and a central bank of drawers. The end drawers and cupboards are of a large scale and measure 76cm/30”. Each cupboard section has a door (with lock and key and original turned bun knob) and fixed end panel and a fixed shelf runs through the entire length of 76cm/30”. The top drawer of the bank of drawers has a lock/no key and the drawers are 65cm/25”. The drawers are of dovetailed construction and each has the original turn bun knob. The base section rests on bracket feet.
