19th Century Danish Oil Painting Farmer Top Hat & Farm Dog at Rest

1 Large Danish Fine Art 19th Century Victorian Oil Painting A Plough Team Farmer Wearing Top Hat & Nordic Farm Dog At Rest.

Subject. Portrait of a Danish Farmer resting on a thick grassy green sloping hill, he is sitting down, his primitive livestock bowed wood fencing, He is wearing a brown tall country hat together with traditional farming clothing. He is holding a long curled smokers pipe. His loyal best friend a nordic brown farm dog is just in front of him sitting up and looking towards his master with love in his eyes. A large brown beer jug is on the floor just beyond. You can see a small green tool box container right the farmers foot, which has a blanket folded and placed over, the tool box lid is nearby. Next to the farmer on his flank is a Victorian hand push plough which has his black overcoat jacket placed over. On his other flank are 2 large Danish horned cattle of which one is resting laying down looking towards the viewer and the other is standing nearby facing left. Further back views of a freshly ploughed dark earth brown sloping field which is now ready for planting crops. Overhead mainly overcast grey sky above with spots of blue coming through near the top areas.

Signed bottom corner by the known Danish artist Johannes Wilhelm Zillen 1824-1870.

An impressive size with the frame being 57.5 cm high and 78 cm wide.

Set in a decorative later gilt frame.

Exceptionally well painted such a very fine example of the artists work which is so collectible & sought after.
