Subject. Portrait of a Danish Farmer resting on a thick grassy green sloping hill, he is sitting down, his primitive livestock bowed wood fencing, He is wearing a brown tall country hat together with traditional farming clothing. He is holding a long curled smokers pipe.
A large brown beer jug is on the floor just beyond. You can see a small green tool box container right the farmers foot, which has a blanket folded and placed over, the tool box lid is nearby. Next to the farmer on his flank is a Victorian hand push plough which has his black overcoat jacket placed over. On his other flank are 2 large Danish horned cattle of which one is resting laying down looking towards the viewer and the other is standing nearby facing left. Further back views of a freshly ploughed dark earth brown sloping field which is now ready for planting crops. Overhead mainly overcast grey sky above with spots of blue coming through near the top areas.

An impressive size with the frame being 57.5 cm high and 78 cm wide.

Set in a decorative later gilt frame.

Condition report the painting surface is in good overall order offered in fine charming used condition. Having various craquelure, some foxing staining in places to the canvas area.
