Fine Late Regency Watercolour Portrait

A wonderful quality late Regency period watercolour portrait of a lady. The lady is seated, three quarter length, dressed in a wonderful blue dress with lace trim and bonnet. The quality of the drawing and colouring is superb, every part of the sitter exquisitely observed and described. The piece does appear to be signed with the signature hidden in the papers in the sitter’s hand, sadly it is illegible. The work has been later framed and mounted at the end of the Victorian period in a well carved frame with faded gilding and slight wear in places. The whole is a wonderful portrait with a great presence and decorative impact. C.1830.
