Unusual Triptych of Watercolour Miniatures in Carved Giltwood Frame

A very unusual group of three watercolour miniatures painted on paper mounted in a wonderful carved giltwood frame. The three miniatures are all beautifully drawn and coloured and in good condition. The relationship between the subjects is unknown and they seem to be of a common theme rather than any familial relationship. The frame is in carved wood with extensive scrollwork, winged cherubs and a crown probably of a Marquess. The frame is in good untouched condition with original gilding and some flaking to the gesso. It is a very interesting piece that most likely formed part of a larger architectural installation. The whole is an extremely unusual and decorative piece with fine artworks and equally fine carved frame. C.1850.
