Nude Oil Painting Attributed William Etty

Description

A very attractive 19th century oil on board of a seated partial nude, in a chiffon dress. Attributed to William Etty and later titled to the reverse ‘Study’ ‘W Etty RA’. Painted on John Reeves artists board of 2 John Street, Tottenham Court Road. Apparently unsigned. Circa 1845-1850.

Presented in the original giltwood frame, having been sensitively restored and gilded. The painting has been professionally cleaned and revarnished.

The panel is stencilled verso ‘CN116’. This is a likely an auction house stencil from Christies or the like, however unconfirmed.
