A really charming oil on canvas portrait of a puppy. The work has a typically folk-art feel to it and a huge amount of naļve charm. It is very unusual to get this sort of dog portrait and it be of a puppy, which looks to be some sort of spaniel. The work is not signed and would no doubt have been by a talented provincial artist. The painting has been professionally cleaned and a tiny hole repaired and is in excellent condition. The work retains the original oak frame with gilt slip. The whole has a great deal of decorative impact and is an unusual example of this type of dog painting.
