Seascape Oil Painting by Steuart Seton

An interesting oil on canvas seascape signed Steuart Seton. The work is a wonderful and very capable study of the sea capturing perfectly the movement and colour of the water and the sky, with the light dominant from the left. The piece is signed to the lower left Steuart Seton, though not an exhibiting artist there is an aristocratic family of this name and thus it is likely that this work was painted by a talented member of that family. The painting is in excellent untouched condition. The impressive black frame is the original and of really good quality will elaborate moulding, it works particularly well with the painting. The frame is in good condition with some minor repairs to chips and flaking. The whole has a great dramatic almost theatrical presence and is ready to hang. C.1900.
