A fine Japanese watercolour of a wading bird. The work shows the bird picking its way through the reeds by the water’s edge. The bird is beautifully observed with enormous skill and detail and the background is simply executed with a brevity and elegance typical of Japanese artwork. The work is signed to the lower right in Japanese script. The piece is in good condition with some slight discolouration to the paper. The framing is English and simply executed in a faded mahogany frame which works extremely well with the image.
