Cleverly rendered with algae resting by the bank. While on the left, siblings chat before a timber-framed farmhouse, wisps of smoke rising from its quaint chimney.
Eilersen painted a romantic vision. One of a perfect Denmark in contrast to its busy cities. His luscious dreamlike woodlands are abundant with birdsong. They appeal to the heart, which is exactly what his patrons needed.
Held within its original 19th-century gilt frame.
