Rare 19th Century Grand Tour Neapolitan black patinated bronze pairing of The Venus of Capua and the Venus Callipyge, after the antique. The Venus Callipyge is an ancient erotic statue whose name literally translates as Venus of the beautiful buttocks, the Venus of Capua was discovered in 1750 in the Amphitheatre in Capua. The original statues are now permanently exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. Both are presented on typical Neapolitan design round patinated bronze bases.
