James Joyce (2 February 1882 – 13 January 1941) was an Irish novelist, poet, and literary critic. He contributed to the modernist avant-garde movement and is regarded as one of the most influential and important writers of the 20th century.
Horas Kennedy the grandson of Glasgow school artist Thomas Millie Dow .
Horas Kennedy’s childhood was spent between the family home in St Ives, Cornwall and their farmhouse in Donegal. It was in Cornwall that he developed his passion for painting .
The Kennedy family were closely associated with many artists and Bloomsbury friends including Stanley and Gilbert Spencer, Henry Lamb, Augustus , John and Mathew Smith , Peter lanyon .

...usin Richard Kennedy, was the well known Bloomsbury illustrator and artist working with Leonard and Virginia Wolfe at the Hogarth Press and published books about his life with them, ''A Boy at the Hogarth Press,'' being one of them.
Spending much time in St Ives, Horas Kennedy became acquainted with many great artists of the time .
Horas Kennedy went to kings college Cambridge where he studied languages, history and economics. from King''s Horas joined the Diplomatic Service. His first posting was as Vice Consul in Valparaiso, Chile, Postings to Belgrade, Buenos Aires and Berne followed before he was appointed as Counsellor in Warsaw and then Consul General in Barcelona. He was awarded an OBE. Spending life in the foreign office including sub-tropical countries and the Mediterranean had a marked affect on his palette as a painter .
Kennedy held various exhibitions included Oxford the Brampton Art Centre, where he exhibited with his cousin Richard Kennedy, and the Henley Art Centre. He
showed in Newlyn at the Duke Street Gallery his paintings have have also been auctioned at Sotheby''s and Christie''s.
Horas spent his retirement in Cornwall where he continued to paint and exhibit his work .
