Landscape Oil Painting by Thomas George Storey

A charming oil on canvas by the artist Thomas George Storey 1865-1935. The painting is worked in thick impasto oils and is an exercise in capturing the effects of light, with the spring sunshine casting a low light across the landscape. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. There is a signature to the lower left and also the artist’s own label on the reverse. Thomas George Storey was born in Bicker, Lincolnshire in 1865 and studied at the Lincoln School of Art c.1885. He is a noted painter of Lincolnshire landscapes and oil paintings by him are in the collection of the Usher Gallery, Lincoln. He did exhibit further afield including at the Royal Academy. The work is framed in the original simple gilt frame which is in good untouched condition with the odd knock and minor repair. This is a lovely work of English impressionism depicting what is almost certainly a Lincolnshire landscape. C.1910.
