This charming 20th-century oil painting by Danish artist Holger Løvgreen (1885-1966) depicts ‘Grandma’s Chair’, which stands quietly in a corner by a window. The seat appears well used and a blanket is draped casually across the back.

Løvgreen was predominantly known for his landscapes and still lifes so it’s interesting to consider why he painted this quiet interior. It’s possible that his grandmother had recently passed away - was this her home? Alternatively, perhaps he inherited the chair earlier in life and used it himself.
