A charming oil on artists board of a dog playing with a stick. The dog stands in a landscape setting next to open water proudly holding his master’s stick. The quality of the work is very good and typical of the provincial naļve school of the mid nineteenth century. The painting is in excellent untouched condition. The gilt frame is of the Victorian period but not the original to the work, it is in good condition with some old knocks and repairs. The whole is a lovely example of the type with a great charming slightly naļve look.
