J Langlois is a very well known British artist famous for his paintings of terriers very much in style to the Armfields family of painters.

Born in Middlesex, England Langlois was a 19th century visual artist who is famous for his paintings of terriers and sporting dogs, among England’s finest animal artists.

This subject was very famous during this period of time, thanks to a growing love for domestic animals in England, when many artists were commissioned to do a portrait of them.

One of Langlois’ inspirer was his contemporary George Armfield (British, circa 1808-1893), whose ability to depict the subjects very realistically created a huge demand for his work, this style and subject matter.

The several Langlois’ artworks have been sold at auction, including Christie’s and Bonhams.

Works by Langlois can be found in many private and public collections all around the world

Customs Payment & Brexit

Cheshire Antiques Consultant LTD operates on a Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU) basis which means that the International buyer is responsible for any import duties, taxes & customs clearance charges and any other customs charges which may be necessary to release an order from international customs.

Following the UK leaving the EU on 1st January 2021 (BREXIT) there have been some changes to customs & duty charges for EU customers. Tax and import duty varies from country to country so we recommend you check with your local tax office to see if any fees will be payable.
