Description

Lester Sutcliffe was born in Heptonstall, West Yorkshire. He painted in oils and watercolours, often around the Whitby and Scarborough area. He exhibited widely and later in his career worked and exhibited with the Newlyn artists, and married the artist Elizabeth Trevor, the two being considered distinguished artists of their region. Sutcliffe died in Leeds age 84.

"The Yorkshire Coast, Evening" is a watercolour measuring 12" x 6". It is signed lower left and is mounted and framed into a quality gilt watercolour frame giving an overall size of 19" x 13"
