Artist’s Studio Interior Oil Painting by J.a.oliver

An interesting oil on artist board interior scene by J.A.Oliver. The work it is titled on the reverse ‘A studio window at 5, The Cedars’ and clearly depicts an artist’s studio with easel and canvases stacked against the wall. The work has a lot of charm painted in thick impasto paint with a bold use of colour and structure. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in good condition. The piece is signed to the lower left and dated 1955. The painted frame is the original and on the reverse is the artist’s label as is the gallery exhibition label where the work was featured in the annual exhibition of the Sunderland Art Club in 1955. A good piece of modern British artwork.
