Description

Henry John Sylvester Stannard RBA 1870-1951.Landcape painter and garden painter.Studied South Kensington School of Art.Son of Henry John Stannard and father of Theresa Sylvester Stannard.Lived Bedord and Flitwick ,Bedfordshire also St Albans and Buckden,Hunts.Exhibited principally at RBA where he showed 70 works and RA, 35 works.Well known for his charming cottage scenes and this is a fine and particularly large example which is understood to have been auctioned at Christies in 2002 for £5875 which is one of the highest auction prices for this artist.
