Georgian Oil on Canvas Portrait of a Gentleman

A Charming oil on canvas of a gentleman. The man is comfortable seated, wearing a large red jacket and holding in his right hand a gold circular snuff box. The man has a typically mid Georgian powdered wig and his face which is beautifully painted has the most amiable and friendly expression that i have ever seen on an eighteenth century portrait. The work is mounted in a wooden slip with a gilt and acanthus leaf moulded frame. The whole is in relatively untouched condition, it has been lined in the nineteenth century but other than that it is dirty and in country house condition, in my opinion this adds to the charm, it has the look of having been in a coaching inn for two hundred years and to clean it would remove the larger part of it's charm as an antique work of art.
