Charles Edward Dixon RI 1872-1934.Painter of river,coastal and marine subjects in oil and watercolour.Son of Alfred Dixon.Exhibited at RA,NWS and elsewhere.Elected RI 1900.Worked for The Graphic and other periodicals.Best known for his port scenes,especially on the Thames such as this large and atmospheric example.He was a keen yachtsman and lived at Itchenor,on the Sussex coast. ‘ Atlas No 3 Wharf,The River Thames’ signed watercolour inscribed ‘Atlas No 3’ dated (18)99 image size45x85 cms, framed size 72.5x113 cms.This fine example of the artists work is newly framed in a quality frame.
