Venetian Scene Oil Painting

A fine oil on artist board titled ‘A Venetian Garden’ by M.Richardson. The painting is beautifully composed and executed in a strong impressionist style with a bold use of colour with think impasto paint. The work has been professionally cleaned and is wonderfully bright and fresh. The view is brilliantly composed with a canal to the foreground, a Venetian house centre with stunning flowers blooming everywhere, and in the background can be seen the dome of Santa Marie della Salute. The painting is signed to the lower left ‘M.H.Richardson’ and this is probably Marjorie Richardson who exhibited at the Royal Academy and was working C.1937-1940. The work is framed in a wonderful period gilt frame which is in excellent untouched condition with all original gilding. The whole has a great look and is ready to hang. C.1940.
