Prometheus Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The painting may well have been completed quickly in a tavern as it has such great movement and brevity of technique. The work is not signed sadly and probably means it was a sketch to be worked into a complete painting at a later date. The piece is in good condition it has had some slight minor repair and a professional clean. The gilt frame is not the original but of a period and type that works very well with the painting. The frame has had repair over the years and has that tired country house look. The whole is a great decorative piece and is ready to hang. C.1900.
