An exquisite 18th-century drawing depicting the Madonna and Child with Saint Augustine and Saint Barbara. It’s possibly a study of an Italian altarpiece by Pietro da Cortona (1596-1669), which once adorned a church in Rome.

The artist has worked in pencil with black chalk and washes.

Overall size: 12½” x 20” / 31cm x 51cm

Year of creation: c. 1760

Provenance: England

Condition: Areas where the paper is a little lighter but nothing that overly distracts. Frame with some light age-related wear.
