The Norwich School of painters was the first provincial school of painters in Britain, founded in 1803 by John Sell Cotman and John Crome. It was inspired by the striking East Anglian landscape and influenced by Dutch masters such as Hobbema and Jacob van Ruisdael. George Vincent (1796-1832) was considered one of the most talented of the Norwich School.
