Description

This enigmatic portrait study by Swedish artist Nils Forsberg (1842-1934) depicts a red-headed girl with a choker. With her face in repose, she gazes into the yonder. Do you see sadness in her eyes? Or is she holding back a smile?

Forsberg was highly regarded during his lifetime and won a gold medal at the Paris Salon for ‘The Death of a Hero’. The Nationalmuseum in Stockholm holds many of his works.

The painting is signed in the lower left, dated lower right and framed.
