Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bamboo and lacquered furniture gained immense popularity in Britain during the Victorian era, largely driven by the Aesthetic Movement and increased trade with East Asia following the opening of Japanese ports in the mid-19th century.

Authentic pieces typically feature natural cane or bamboo poles joined together using hidden internal dowels, glued joints, and wrapped whiplash or split cane bindings to secure the structural framework.

Authenticity is indicated by genuine node placements, natural patination and wear on the surface, traditional pegged or dowelled joinery, and the use of hand-split cane rather than modern synthetic bindings or extruded materials.

These versatile pieces work well as sculptural plant pedestals or side tables, adding organic texture and warmth to modern minimalist spaces or complementing maximalist and bohemian decors.

Maintain bamboo pieces by keeping them away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent splitting, dusting regularly with a soft brush, and occasionally applying a light microcrystalline wax.
