Frederick Morgan studied under his father, the genre painter John Morgan (1823–1886). At the age of sixteen, his painting The Rehearsal was accepted at the Royal Academy. He was a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. He married the painter Alice Havers in 1872.
He was active in London exhibitions from 1865, notably at the Royal Academy (Benezit, Dictionary of Artists, Gründ, 2006).
