Description

Henry John Sylvester Stannard RBA 1870-1951.Exhibited RBA,RI,RA and elsewhere.His most characteristic works are in the tradition of Birket Foster.Although not signed this large and particularly attractive example is in my opinion by the artist showing excellent use of the split brush antique so often employed by the artist.Here the bristles are split to achieve a more precise look to the detail in a painting,a technique which had been pioneered by the artist John Glover. ‘ Two Children and their Cat in front of a Thatched Cottage ‘unsigned watercolour,image size 35x 50.5 cms,framed size 63x77 cms.
