Dixon Clark "The Hay Field" Oil Painting

Description

Joseph Dixon Clark (1849-1944) was a landscape painter in oils who lived and worked in Blaydon and Whickham near Newcastle. He showed five of his works at the Royal Academy between 1890 and 1902 and frequently exhibited his work at the Gateshead photographers' shop run by his two sons. One of these sons was John Clark, painter of miniatures.

The present painting "The Hay Field" is an exceptional example. Measuring 16"x 22" it is signed lower right and is framed in a wonderful gilt frame giving an overall size of 27"x 32".
