A Hillside Village in Provence, the South of France, Circa 1940 Oil on Board

Description

An atmospheric view of a hilltop village in Provence at sundown, as the air begins to cool. Dating from circa 1940, it is painted in the mediterranean style, with a paint knife as well as with a brush. French in origin and unsigned, I have not been able to identify the artist. On the verso, there is fait annotation "Prud'homme".

An oil on board, the painting measures 46 x 55 cm. The overall framed size is 54 x 62 cm.
