Nancy was born into an artistic family in Limoges. Her mother was an art teacher and her grandfather was Auguste Rodin’s cousin. Her father came from a long line of artists and artisans dating back to the sixteenth century.
She says to paint instinctively and like Bonnard, one of the artists who has most influenced her work, ambience is more important than design. For this reason, she paints directly, without preliminary sketching.
Delouis is best known for her paintings of interior scenes. She excels at expressing the intimacies of an interior scene, which she mainly fills that with depictions of women. The small oil on board presented here, dating from the late 1960s, is an excellent example of this. Measuring 17 x 13 cm, the overall size
in an elegant an elaborate frame is 28 x 24 cm. The painting is signed at the lower right.
Certainly a Christmas present received by a previous owner, the verso is annotated GHL Noerl 1970
Delouis, born in 1941n continues to live and paint in France and has had many group and solo exhibitions in France as well as in the UK, USA, Canada and Russia.
