Pair of Victorian Oil Paintings by M.sinclair

A fine pair of oil on canvas paintings of Warwick Castle and Wingfield Manor in Derbyshire. The paintings are both very competent and atmospheric depictions of these medieval buildings in the Romantic Gothic manner. The pair are in good untouched condition with a minor repair to the sky in the Warwick Castle painting. The pair retain the original nice quality frames which have been later overgilt and are in good condition. The Warwick castle work is signed on the front ‘M.Sinclair’ and both works are signed by monogram on the reverse. There is a Scottish artist Mary Sinclair working at this period and could be the artist here, she exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1886. The pair have a great decorative appeal and country house look, very much in the Romantic and Gothic Revival styles, and are ready to hang. C.1880
