This beautifully composed modern painting exudes an undefinable, dreamlike atmosphere.

Painted with sober colours, yet incredibly luminous, its depicts a couple of young women chatting in front of majestic architecture - with a doggie waiting patiently by the gates. The scene is so immediate that one feels present as an observer in the in the picture, and yet, one wonders where one is: what is the town? What is this mysterious country?

Of exceptional quality, the painting, an oil on hardboard, is French in origin, and was painted in September 1967. I have not been able to identify the artist, who only signed with his monogram JH on the verso. Measuring 60 x 50.5 cm, it is presented in its original, simple frame. The overall framed size is 56 x 67 cm.
