Fine Floral Still Life Watercolour by Eva Francis

A beautifully detailed watercolour of white Thunbergia by Eva Francis, who exhibited 1887-1924. The composition of the flowers on the very edge of a table is a classic for still life. The detail is amazing and the colours are wonderfully fresh and bright. The work retains the original exhibition label on the reverse. Eva Francis was a specialist flower painter who exhibited widely and profusely including six times at the Royal Academy. The painting retains the original gilt frame which is in good antique condition with a few repairs. The frame is mounted with two unusual enamel shields. The whole has a great period look and is ready to hang. C.1920.
