Circa 1962. Artist's label verso.

Biographical notes:

Born in London, Barnes remarkably seems to have had two quite successful careers both in art, and banking, (rising to manager of the Westminster Bank, West Wickham branch). He won a scholarship to Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts in London and later studied under J. Harvey Bloom at Sutton Art School.

He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and the United Society of Artists.
