Description

A delightful pair of portrait paintings dating from the mid 18th Century circa 1750. The portraits are of two girls, probably sisters, in beautiful dresses and matching headdresses, of the period. The girls are very attractive and engaging with their enigmatic half smiles and English rose complexions. Both girls have rosebud posies pinned to their dresses, one sister with her hand upon the posy, sat upon a Chippendale chair.

These paintings are exceptionally well executed in oil on metal panels. They are presented in original gilt oval fames which suit them immensely. Although the identity of the girls is not known they will have been from an important family to afford such portraiture at the time.

There are some raised, slightly pitted areas but only to the background. The girls themselves are unaffected and are in super original condition. These measure 28 cms by 24 cms including the frames.
