Victorian Oil Painting of Horses by H Jones.

Fine oil on canvas painting of a group of horses in a landscape setting by H Jones. The painting is beautifully and delicately worked. The horses in particular are very well observed and the artist must have been somewhat of a specialist horse painter. The work has been cleaned and over the years has had several holes repairs all very professionally. The painting is signed to the lower left ‘H Jones’ with a slightly illegible middle initial as well. There are numerous artists with the name working in the appropriate period and as such assigning the work to anyone in particular is difficult. The painting is framed in what appears to be the original frame which has some repairs. The frame and the painting do have a very worn antique look typical of the country house aesthetic, but it is all in good stable condition and is ready to hang. C.1890.
