Welsh Landscape Oil Painting by Frank T. Carter

A fine landscape oil on canvas by highly regarded artist Francis Thomas Carter (1853-1934) known as Frank. The painting is titled on the reverse ‘The Lledr Valley, North Wales’ and shows a dramatic vista looking down the valley painted in the beautiful tones of late Summer. The painting has been professionally cleaned and a very small hole repaired. The piece is framed in a fine quality modern gilt frame which is in tones that complement the work greatly.

Frank T. Carter is an artist associated with Newcastle and the north, he was self-taught and became a great commercial success. Carter exhibited widely and prolifically including 18 times at The Royal Academy as well as extensively at the Royal Cambrian Academy, The Royal Hibernian Academy and The Glasgow Institute of Fine Art amongst many others. His work captures the magnificence and romance of the landscape beautifully and is much in demand, particularly in the north.
