Small Victorian Gothic Oil Painting by F.hart

A small oil on canvas gothic scene by F. Hart. The painting shows a view through a Gothic entrance to a small town with church all in the high Gothic style. The setting is winter with snow on the ground and it is likely to be a continental scene. The painting is signed and dated on a stone in foreground: ‘F.Hart 1851’. The work has been professionally cleaned and is in good condition, there is some craquelure particularly in the dark background which shows in the photos much more than it does in reality. The painting is framed in a Victorian period gilt frame that works very well with the piece but is not the original. The frame is in good worn condition. The whole piece has a great Romantic Gothic look and is ready to hang.
