Midsummer, the heat punctuated by a light breeze as the artist sketches from a woodland clearing. He knew this area well, he’s walked this way before. Beech trees line the right and guide the eye towards a cloud-covered horizon. While a single fir brings balance to the composition.

This picturesque view of nature by Danish artist, Carlo Hornung Jensen (1882-1960), puts you at ease. It’s disarming in its tranquillity.
