Pastel Dog Portrait by Wasdell Tricket

A charming pastel drawing of a spaniel called ‘Gerald’ by Wasdell Tricket. The portrait is beautifully worked quickly and confidently and captures the animal wonderfully. The condition is good with only the odd mark to the paper. The work is mounted in a nineteenth century mahogany frame that is in great untouched condition and works wonderfully with the piece. The drawing is dated 1922 and signed on the reverse. Wasdell Tricket was a specialist horse and animal artist working in the first part of the twentieth century. He was prolific but did not exhibit so there is little biographical record of him and indeed it seems he may have used different names as purely commercial artists often did. The work of Wasdell Tricket is always of a high standard and is very desirable. This piece is a great example of his pastel work and has a wonderful decorative appeal.
