This gentle Danish interior scene sensitively depicts a young lady playing the piano by soft candlelight. She’s focused and lost to the music - perhaps it’s a nightly serenade.

Poul Friis Nybo (1869-1929) cherished these moments and often produced introspective scenes featuring women writing, reading or undertaking crafts.

The painting is signed and housed within a gilt frame.

Condition: Frame with some light wear but overall very presentable. The camera has highlighted some small areas of impasto. Please note that this is a dark painting.
