Description

A bright early 20th-century landscape painting depicting a coastal view by Danish painter, Peter Johan Schou (1863-1934).

Initially, our eyes are drawn to the scattering of large rocks that emerge from the water. Schou has rendered these well with the ones in the foreground possessing a gentle sheen of accrued moisture. It’s plausible that some of these tumbled from the cliffs to our left, which wrap around the view and take us finally out to sea.

The painting is signed/dated in the lower right and housed in a later frame.
