A charming early 20th-century oil painting depicting an old rustic barn with a cart and chickens. The artist, Ernest Betigny (1873-1960), has applied the oils with broad confident marks and plenty of expression.

Betigny hailed from Schaerbeek and studied at the Academy in Brussels.

The painting is signed in the lower left and housed within a frame that’s probably the original.

Year of creation: c. 1920

Provenance: England

Condition: Frame with some age-related wear.
