Marthe was also a painter and she married Gosta in 1927.
Their lives were spent immersed in their art and it’s interesting to consider the various adventures they undertook.
Gosta’s philosophy was based upon his belief that art should be positive and protect the inner beauty and spiritual values of its subjects. He described an artist’s role as essentially a conduit for nature - to remain open and observe with impartiality.
He’s represented in several museum collections including at the National Museum in Stockholm and the Moderna Museet.
The portrait is framed well and signed in the lower right.
