Dorothy Margaret and Elisabeth Alderson 1900-1992.The Anderson’s were twin sisters ,Elisabeth Mary being the younger of the two who were born at Girsby Grange,Yorkshire in 1900.They were distant relatives of the Yorkshire artist William Etsy and grew up on a Yorkshire farm.They worked together and on paintings,signing them jointly,loving to paint the animals around them and the landscapes of wherever they travelled.They were extremely popular in their day and found ready buyers for their paintings and that popularity continued unabated today.They exhibited their work widely including atThe Laing Art Gallery,Newcastle and the Royal Academy amongst others. ‘ Racehorse in a Wooded Landscape’ signed watercolour dated 1932;image size 34x45cms;framed size 54x66cms
