Flirtation c1893
I am selling this painting as circle of Alonso Perez. It is signed bottom right, A Perez and inscribed in pencil Alonso Perez on a label verso.
The label enables the painting to be dated to between 1893 and 1914 a period when Perez is known to have been working in Paris

Alonso Pérez (fl. 1881–1914) was a Spanish painter who worked at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries.
He began his artistic training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zaragoza, followed by further instruction in Madrid. In 1889 he moved to Paris where he settled with his brother Luis, a composer. It is from this period that this painting dates. As with many of his contemporaries, his works were done on a small, intimate scale that created a need for careful examination by the viewer. Most of his work featured pretty women and handsome men in 18th century costumes.

Condition
Painted on to a quality mahogany panel which has a tight split top right. There is some minor touching in, slight score mark in the centre, but generally the painting is in good order. Presented in a later beautifully distressed carved Montparnasse frame.
