A striking and mysterious painting from the arts and crafts/ art nouveau period, dating from circa 1910-20. It depicts a flower seller in her stride, cloaked so to protect from wind and rain, carrying baskets of flowers with both arms, possibly before dawn. An oil on board with a distinct and unusual texture, the painting is French in origin, with an indistinct signature that I have frustratingly not been able to decipher. Measuring 33 x 46 cm, the overall framed size in its original oak frame is 54 x 41 cm
